4 Made in India Natural Skincare Brands Worth Trying

The skincare industry has seen a paradigm shift in the brands and products that have become popular, in the past decade or so. There’s been an influx of brands offering all natural, organic, cruelty free products all over the world. Some of the biggest skincare and beauty brands today, are infact the ones that offer skin treatments free from chemicals which were a staple of skincare products some time ago. Infact, if you google skincare trends in 2017, you’re going to see a lot of natural, organic ingredients that are or are set to make waves in the skincare industry.

This trend has certainly caught on in India as well. Which is natural, considering a lot of these global brands, are using ancient ayurvedic techniques to sell their products to a global audience looking for something new. In our quest to find out how India is faring when it comes to this organic and natural trend that has exploded around the globe, we’ve been using and testing a bunch of made in India brands offering the same. And in our continuing endeavour to help you discover great brands and products, here’s our pick of 5 made in India brands offering natural skincare, worth trying:

1) Arveda

Arveda is a brand launched just over a year ago by the company that owns the popular home fragrances brand The Fragrance People. The makers of these home fragrance products have been dabbling in natural ingredients for home care and aromatherapy for years now. So extending that knowledge into natural skincare, seemed a logical choice. And they’ve done well!
Arveda products are some of the highest quality Indian skincare products we’ve tried so far. They’re gentle on the skin, have authentic natural fragrances, and mostly deliver on their promise. The ingredients used range from commonplace rose to exotic tea tree and rosemary.
Let’s have a look at their offering in detail:
Product range: Personal Care
They have a pretty extensive catalog of:
Skincare | Haircare | Bath and Shower | Aromatherapy and Massage Oils.
Price range: Average price Rs. ~ 425
Not easy on the pocket. 100 gm pack of body butter retails at Rs. 459 and a 100 gm bar of handmade soap retails at Rs. 349
What we loved: The body butters and the handmade soaps are to die for
What we’re unsure of: The hair care range can be a bit harsh for those with dry, frizzy hair
Available at: The Brand Website

2) Kronokare

Kronokare brands itself as a fun, energetic brand which makes happy products that benefit both the consumer and the environment. If you take a look at their products, you’ll get the same feeling. The packaging is extremely vibrant and the product names are innovative (their Lavender skincare range is called “Smoothening Operator”) to say the least. All their products are free from sulphates, paraben and SLS, and are not tested on animals.

Ma Earth Botanicals has an interesting origin story. Founded and managed by mother daughter duo Swarn and Anaisha Sukh, it is focussed on creating natural products with an aim at holistic health and well being. The recipes for these products are the brainchild of Ma - Swarn Sukh, through her study in the field of homeopathy and naturopathy. They’ve got a limited range of products, owing to the fact that they claim to be highly specialized and focussed on particular skin needs.

Price range: Average price Rs. ~ 300
This one’s relatively easy on the pocket. 100 gm pack of Handmade Soap retails at Rs. 175
What we loved: The Jasmine Peach Soap and Orange Mandarin Soap are good enough to make one switch back to soaps from shower gels
What we’re unsure of: The skin care range (creams, lotions) are missable. We really wish the packaging was a little better too. The lotions and shower gels specially, are quite inconvenient to use
